Recommended Trunk-Mount Bike Carrier That Will Not Rust For 2011 Nissan Juke

What is the product made of? I live in high humidity area Hawaii and things rust pretty badly.

The Yakima FullBack Bike Rack, part # Y02634 is constructed of steel and has a powder-coat finish.

To help keep the bike carrier in good shape it is recommended to remove it from the vehicle when not in use and keep it out of the elements. That can be tough to do so you may want to periodically apply a coat of wax to the carrier to help repel water. If the rack gets wet from rain you will want to dry it off to help keep it from rusting.

Another carrier you may want to check out and one I recommend is the Saris Bones 2-Bike Carrier, part # SA805BL. This bike carrier has an aluminum horizontal tube and features tough plastic arms and legs that are rustproof and durable. My contact at Saris did say that the hardware holding some of the parts used on the bike carrier are made of steel and may eventually rust but the bulk of the carrier is injection-molded plastic. In your high humidity climate this carrier would work really well.
