How To Measure Truck And Trailer To Find Correct Adjustable Ball Mount
Question:
I have a 2012 Silverado 2500 4x4 crew cab. I want to know what to appropriate /rise hitch to get to be able to haul typical cargo/utility trailers and deck over car haulers. I am looking at the aluminum Fastway receivers. Thank you for your time.

To find the correct ball mount to tow your trailers you will need to take a couple measurements. There is no industry standard ball mount due to so many variations of trailers and trucks.
First with your truck on level ground measure the distance from the top of the receiver opening to the ground.
Then with the trailer on level ground measure the distance from the bottom of the trailer coupler to the ground.
If the trailer hitch height is greater than the coupler height, the difference is the amount of drop you need for the ball mount. If the trailer height is greater than the trailer receiver height, that would be the amount of rise you need in a trailer coupler.
I have attached a link to the product page for adjustable ball mounts we offer from Fastway. You can use the filters on the page to find the right ball mount that will work for you.
