Is a Special Wiring Harness Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country
Question:
2001 chrysler town and country limited I was wondering if I need to have the custom fit wiring that you sell for this product to be able to have working lights on the vehicle and the trailer? I already have wiring that I could use to splice into the tail lights. Just curious if I need something more for this application. Thank you in advance.

Your 2001 Chrysler Town and Country has what is called a separate or 3-wire lighting system. This means that the turn signals operate on different circuits/bulbs than the brake lights. But trailers use a combined system with the turn signals and brake lights on the same circuit (with few exceptions). So if you were to splice directly into the vehicle wiring then the light functions would not work properly on the trailer.
So all you need to fix this is the proper wiring harness with a converter, # 118376. the converter will take the separate circuits used on the van and combine them so that everything works properly on the trailer. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation for you.
