Should Two Propane Regulators be Used on a Trailer

I have a camco 59003 auto switch over gas regulator that came with the trailer. I also have a regulator off the far tank before it enters this device. What is the purpose of the second regulator prior to the main regulator?

I spoke with my contact at Camco and he informed me that there is no reason to have two regulators. You cannot regulate LP twice. He advised you remove the second one and use just the Camco auto-change over.
