Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 1989-1993 26 foot Dutchmen Camper

Question:

I am looking for the best setup for my truck/camper. Will this work and what weight rating do I need? My truck is a 2002 Ford F-150 5.4L FX4 and the camper is between a 1989 and 1993 26ft Dutchmen. The camper weighes between 4200 and 4900 lbs. Do I need a weight distribution, anti sway, or both?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Your loaded tongue weight would most likely be between 490 and 750 lbs so the best setup we offer for you would be the Strait Line # RP66083 as this has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and features the only sway control on the market designed to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
