Troubleshooting Trailer Valet Squealing When Moving

Question:

I purchased a trailer valet last year and after a couple of uses it began to squeal very loudly when I use it to move my boat. My boats weighs 3,000lbs and my driveway is pretty flat. It squeals so loud that people inside the house think someone is screaming outside. It is kept in a garage and does not get wet. The squealing is louder when the trailer valet is working harder pushing the trailer up hill, but it squeals in the down hill direction as well. Is there some sort of maintenance that can be done to lubricate the trailer valet or is there a faulty part? Any help would be appreciated.

I spoke with my contact at Trailer Valet and she said that what you described sounds like a lack of lubrication which is causing the sound you are describing. You will want to remove the gear cover and lubricate all the moving parts with an emphasis on the chains and the noise should go away.

In the manual, which I attached a link to, there is a section on maintenance that you may find helpful.
