How To Determine What Parts Are Needed To Replace Brakes And Hub Components On Boat Trailer
Question:
We have an old 1987 Mastercraft ski boat trailer that needs an entire new brake assy for all four wheels. The original drums were made by Unique Functional Products but everything except the actual drums are rusted and ruined. We would like to replace the everything from the spindle on out. Do you sell such a kit or a kit that will work with the existing drums? Thanks!

The first thing we need to know is what kind of brakes you have on your trailer.
For brakes you need to let me know what size and type brakes you have on your trailer. I have attached a couple helpful articles that explains what is needed when adding or changing brakes on a trailer you can check out
The easiest way to find replacement parts is to remove the wheel and hub and check out the bearings and races. You will want to look for the part number. If you cannot find the part numbers you can use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the spindle where the bearings ride and also the inside diameter of the hub on the trailer. I have attached a photo that shows where you can typically find the numbers on the parts and also where you need to measure on the spindle to find the right parts. .
