Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2012 Nissan Armada Towing a 2017 R-Pod 176T

Question:

Weve got a 2012 Nissan Armada that can tow up to 6500lbs. Just purchased a 2017 Rpod 176T..max weight 3800. We are looking at the Fastway E2 for 6000/600, but our dealer does not have in stock nor do they install. They are directing us toward the Reese Pro which is for 750-1000 tongue weight...seems like a bit much for what we are towing?! What do you recommend and is it safe to tow this RPod home and then find someone to install the E2?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

The Reese system the dealer is pushing you towards is going to be rated too high for your application. It will give you a very harsh ride.

The Fastway part # FA94-00-0600 you were originally interested in would be the correct rated system. It has a tongue weight range of 400-600 lbs which would be right where you would need.

For a 2 inch hitch ball you would want the part # EQ91-00-6080 or for a 2-5/16 inch ball part # EQ91-00-6100.
