Availability of Longer Weight Distribution Shank for Equal-I-zer System to Clear Tailgate

Question:

I need an extended shank for my Equalizer hitch to prevent my tailgate from hitting the jack. My current shank is 10inch from vertical post to end, 12inch overall. Pin is located 9inch from outer face of post. I need an additional 2inch 11inch pin location. Vertical post is 10inch +/- Do you have a suggestion?

Equal-I-zer offers some longer weight distribution shanks than their standard 12 inch long shank that will provide you plenty of clearance to allow you to fully open your tailgate. I recommend the Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution Shank, 18 Inches Long with 8 Inch Rise or 4 Inch Drop # EQ90-02-4600. This shank is compatible with 600-1,400 pound tongue weight capacity systems. The # EQ90-02-4600 will fit 2 inch x 2 inch trailer hitch receivers and measures 18 inches long overall.

If you need a shank with a longer vertical post, another option is the Curt Weight Distribution Shank, 14 Inches Long # C17122. This shank has an overall height of 10 inches like your existing shank and measures 14-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the outer post. The weight capacity of this shank is 15,000 pounds with a tongue weight capacity of 1,500 pounds.
