Will a 145/80-12 Trailer Tire Fit in Place of a 4.80-12 Trailer Tire

Question:

Do they make a radial trailer tire in 4.80-12? Could I use an ST 145/R12 as a replacement?

All of the 4.80-12 trailer tires are going to be bias ply tires but I have good news for you. A 145/80-12 trailer tire will fit the same size wheel width as the 4.80-12.

But the 145 will be approximately 0.8 inches wider and 0.8 inches taller than the 4.80-12 tires. So you need to make sure that there is enough space between the existing tires and the trailer all around the tire to use the slightly larger size.

For a radial 145/80-12 you can use # AM10130. It is rated for 1,220 pounds at 65 psi.
