Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for 2014 Toyota Avalon to Carry 4 Bikes
Question:
Is there a list of cars and smaller SUVs that you can buy a 2inch receiver hitch for? I want to buy a 4 bike carrier and they are only sold in 2inch sizes due to the load. I bet others would like this info too. Thanks and thanks for a helpful site.

I can help you find a 4 bike rack for your 2014 Toyota Avalon, but we do not have a list of all of the cars and smaller SUV that have Class III trailer hitches available for them.
The trailer hitches we offer for your Avalon are all Class II trailer hitches with 1-1/4 inch receiver shanks. The hitch I recommend for you is the Draw-Tite Class II Frame Receiver Hitch # 36540, because it will work well with a bike rack and does not require the use of a stabilization strap with non-trailer loads, such as a bike rack, like the Curt trailer hitch requires. The installation instructions for the # 36540 hitch are linked for you.
For a 4-Bike hitch mounted rack that is compatible with the Draw-Tite # 36540 hitch, I recommend the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR. I really like this rack because it is a budget friendly rack with great features, like the HoldFast cradles with No-Sway Cages to help prevent bike movement during travel. The Hitching Post Pro also has the ability to tilt away from the vehicle when the bikes are unloaded to allow you better access to the trunk. This bike rack is compatible with both 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch hitch receivers. With the included anti-rattle bolt, the carrier can be tightened in the hitch receiver to keep bike rack movement to a minimum. I have attached a review video of this bike rack on a similar car for you.
If you plan on carrying any women's or children's bikes, or bikes with step through or alternative frames, you may need to use a bike adapter bar in order to carry the bike level on the bike rack. I recommend the Kuat Ubar Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01. The adapter bar connects between the seat post and handlebar stem to provide a secure attachement point for the bike on the rack. I have attached a review video of this adapter bar for you.
