Troubleshoot Trailer Brakes Locking Up After Brake Controller Trailer Wiring on Nissan Frontier

Question:

I have a 2012 Nisan Frontier and installed the Tekonsha 3050-P Brake Control Wiring Adapter for Nissan, Tekonsha 90195 P3 Electronic Brake Control and Tow Ready 118266 Replacement OEM Tow Wiring Harness. everything was plug and Play 7 Pin and I drove 1 mile down the road with a camper trailer and noticed the blue smoke coming from the wheels. The camper place put a tester on the connection and noticed that there was a constant voltage going to the brakes. blue wire he disconnected it and made it so I still had lights but couldnt figure out why theres power always going to the trailer brakes.

For some reason on some Nissan vehicles the brake output and 12 volt accessory circuits are switched and you end up with the brakes wanting to lock up all the time. It doesn't happen on every vehicle but what you will need to do is swap the wire in the 1:00 and 5:00 position as you are looking into the front of the connector.

This will get the brakes working properly.
