Installing Electric Brake Controller on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Tow Package
Question:
installing electric brake controller in a 2005 Grand Cherokee with a tow package. I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7l overland edition. it comes witha tow package that already has the 7 pin connector. I looked under the dash above the pedals, but couldnt see where the connection is made. There doesnt seem to be any videos for that year! Just where is the or how do I make the connection?

Based on my research, there should be a green wire located somewhere behind the fuse box under the dash that is ran from the 7 way for the brake signal wire. This green wire will connect to the blue wire on the brake controller pigtail, like # 20127.
To make the rest of the connections for the brake controller, you will want some duplex wire # 10-2-1, sold by the foot. This wire will allow you to ground the white wire from the brake controller at the negative battery terminal. The other wire in the duplex wiring will allow you to connect the black power wire to a 20 amp or 30 amp fuse, depending on the brake controller's instructions, and then to the positive battery terminal.
The red wire from the brake controller connects to the brake stoplight switch located at the top of the brake pedal. The switch will have several different wires leading to it, you will need to use a circuit tester, like # 40376, to locate the wire that only shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. Once you locate the correct circuit tap the red wire into that circuit.
I have attached a help article on installing a brake controller from scratch that may have some helpful information for you.
