Motorcycle Carrier for Rear Hitch of 2005 Forest River Sunseeker Class C Motorhome

Question:

I noticed in your reviews and questions answered you said that some motorcycle carriers could not be used behind an RV. Curious as to why that is? I have a 2015 Suzuki V-Strom 650 Adventure would like to carry it on the back of my RV, without the hard bags and wanted to buy a Motorcycle Carrier for use on the back of my 2005 Forest River Sunseeker Class C Motorhome. I think it was approximately 500 lbs. Will any work?

At the rear of a motorhome or travel trailer, the rear overhang (distance between the rear axle and the back bumper) is much longer than what you'd find in a typical passenger vehicle. This means that anything mounted at the back bumper will experience much more bouncing and jarring than it ordinarily would, kind of like sitting in the back seat of the school bus when it goes over a big bump. Most motorcycle carriers aren't designed to withstand this.

The Ultra-Fab # UF48-979033 Motorcycle Carrier is designed so that it can be used on the back of a motorhome. The carrier has a 500 lb capacity, so you'll need to ensure that the weight of your bike comes in under that figure. The hitch on your motorhome also needs to have sufficient tongue weight capacity (TW) to accommodate the weight of the bike plus the 45 lb weight of the carrier. The carrier fits tires up to 5 inches wide.
