Can Electric Brakes Be Used On Boat Trailer
Question:
I currently have a hydraulic braking system and want to switch to electric. Is your product rated for frequent boat launching ?

Helpful Expert Reply:
In the past it was never recommended to use electric brakes on a boat trailer because electricity and water do not work well together, but more and more people and boat trailer companies are switching. We still recommend disconnecting the trailer wiring from the tow vehicle before backing the boat trailer into water.
You will need to remove your brake lines and then install wiring for the brakes. You will want to make sure you seal all electrical connections to keep moisture out.
I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains what is needed to convert your trailer brakes. The brake controller I recommend is the P2, part # 90885. This is our most popular brake controller because it is easy to install and operate.
