Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2011 Ford F-550 Cab and Chassis with a Flat Bed

Question:

I have a Ford F-550 with a flat bed and a fifth wheel ball located under a metal flap in the bed, can you recommend a Pro Series 5th wheel hitch that can be installed on my flat bed truck?

Sounds like you would like standard above the bed rails with a 5th wheel hitch to use instead of the gooseneck ball.

I might have a solution for you but we do not have any Pro Series hitch to allow you to use a standard kit with your flat bed as is.

The flat bed will need to be heavily modified to accommodate base rails and 5th wheel hitch, so none of our frame kits will be compatible your setup would have to be all custom.

The Reese Low Profile Hitch # RP30054 which is specially designed for the cab-and-chassis trucks mounts directly to the frame, so there is no need for rails. It has a towing capacity of 30,000lbs and a vertical load limit of 7,500lbs. This hitch requires your truck to have a 1/2 inch steel plate welded to the frame by a qualified professional.

A much easier solution would be a gooseneck hitch to fifth wheel adapter like the # CAB-C5G. This will attach to the pin box of your trailer and then will allow the gooseneck hitch you currently have to tow your trailer.

I linked an install video for you to check out of this for your convenience.
