Comparison Between Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite Class I Hitches Available for 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback

Question:

Hello, I have a 2010 Mazda 3 s hatchback and want to by a hitch. Its not that big a deal, but what is the difference between the Draw-Tite Class 1 Sport Frame Hitch and the Hidden Hitch Class 1? They literally look like the EXACT same product, with a different name? I really like the Draw-Tite 24842 for the sedan that has more mounting points, 2 vertical and 2 horizontal. Seems like that would be stronger and more ridged. Im guessing this hitch will not fit the hatchbacks for some reason, if so thats too bad. Thanks!

The only difference between the Hidden Hitch # 60259 (no longer available) and the Draw-Tite # 24843 Class I hitch is the fact that the Hidden Hitch model includes the drawbar and the pin and clip used to secure the drawbar into the receiver.

Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite are owned by the same parent company, Cequent Performance Products. The hitches are identical except for brand name sticker affixed to them. If you might be towing with the hitch, the Hidden Hitch model would be the way to go. If you're planning on using the hitch as an attachment point for a bike rack or cargo carrier, the Draw-Tite would be your best bet, as you wouldn't need the drawbar or pin and clip.

If you plan on towing, you'll need a trailer taillight wiring harness, part # 118420 and a trailer ball. For a 1-7/8 inch trailer coupler, use # 19256 or # 19258 for a 2 inch coupler.

The Draw-Tite # 24842 hitch you mentioned is only a fit for sedan models, not the hatchback. Regardless of the number of attachment points, All the Class I hitches we offer for your 2010 Mazda 3 have the same weight capacity. The difference in design is due to the structural differences at the rear of the hatchback versus the sedan model.
