Compatibility of Pintle Hitch Ball for a Sailboat Trailer Coupler

Question:

I have a small sailboat I need to tow, with a 1 7/8inch ball for the trailer, but my hitch needs a 1 1/4inch shank and the ball I have is 3/4. I know the large shank is overkill for a little boat trailer, but would this product work for a standard 1 7/8inch ball? 63017 Id rather use the right size shank than have a reducer bushing, to avoid extra parts that might get lost. Thanks for your advice.

The Curt # C48810 ball will be a perfect fit for your setup. You are correct that it is recommended to use the right size shank for your ball rather than use a reducer bushing.

This ball size will be compatible with your sailboats trailer coupler and will fit your ball mount properly which is great, it's also okay to go under the weight capacity in this case. One thing you may want to check your ball mount for is the shank length needed this ball has a 2-3/8 inch long shank.

I have linked the hitch ball to this page for your convenience.
