How to InstallZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness 119250KIT

Question:

I purchased an ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness with Install Kit. 119250KIT. I own a 2015 Honda Fit. My question is does my vehicle have a two wire or a three wire system? How do you know? Exactly which wires are these names referring to? Thanks.

If a car has separate amber turn lights then it is a 3-wire system. My research shows your car is a 2-wire system since it's taillights have no amber portions.

Installation of the Tekonsha wiring harness # 119250KIT is straightforward. The black wire is connected to the supplied extension piece using the included butt connector and the other end is routed up to the engine compartment where it connects to the battery + terminal through the supplied fuse holder. A helpful article is linked to assist you with routing this wire.

For the other wires, you'll use the included circuit tester to identify the function carried on each vehicle wire before you make the connections to the harness leads. The harness white wire is ground and attaches to a clean bare metal spot on the vehicle; the red wire is for brakes and connects to the tail light wire that carries the brake light signal; the yellow is left turn and the green is right turn; brown is running lights.
