Recommended Yakima Cargo Box and Fairing for a 2014 Acura RDX

Question:

I want to install a cargo box on my 2014 Acura RDX. I have a Yakima roof rack with Q towers. The front round crossbar is only about 8 inch to 10 inch behind the windshield rack installed per Yakima specs for this car. With this rack position not being adjustable, Im concerned about a cargo box sticking far out over the windshield. Do the Yakima cargo boxes allow for any forward and backward mounting adjustment? Are the shorter Yakima Rocketboxes the best option, or would a Skybox fit? What would you recommend? Also, can a wind fairing be used with a cargo box? Thanks for your response.

Yes, both the Yakima cargo boxes in the RocketBox Pro and the Skybox Pro lines have adjustable mounting clamps to accommodate the short front clearance on your 2014 Acura RDX. We have many customers who will shift their boxes forward to accommodate hatch clearance.

For the RocketBox, the 14 cubic feet RocketBox # Y07192 measures 74 inches long x 33 inches wide x 16 inches tall. I linked an installation video of this on a 2016 Acura with the clamps to the furthest setting forward for you to see where the front of the nose is in relation to the windshield.

If you are planning on carrying cargo like skies or snowboards in your cargo box, I would recommend measuring them and picking a box length by that, the average person's ski length is about 74 inches in length. The Skybox NX16 # Y95AV would accommodate that as well as some cargo with measurements of 75-1/2 inches long x 35 inches wide x 16 inches tall. If you wanted to tell me what your capacity and cargo needs are I would be more than happy to better tailor a cargo box recommendation for you.

I have linked all the products mentioned above to this page for your convenience.
