Recommended Hub/Drum to Add Brake Assembly onto 7K Trailer Axle
Question:
I have a tandem axle trailer with electric brakes on one axle. They are dexter 7000 pd. axles and the idler axle has the five bolt flange. I would like to add brakes to the idler. Do you have a kit with the backing plate and brakes plus the hub and drum? Thank you,

We don't sell the hub/drum and the brake assembly as a kit, but I would be happy to make some recommendations if you could send me some more information. I'd need you to confirm the bolt pattern of your wheels (likely to be 8 on 6-1/2) and the reference number from your inner and outer wheel bearings. A 7K axle would typically use a # 25580 inner bearing and either an # LM67048 or a # 14125A outer bearing.
A 7K axle would use a 12x2 inch brake assembly. I'd recommend using self adjusting brake assemblies, like # AKEBRK-7L-SA for the left hand and # AKEBRK-7R-SA for the right side of the trailer.
If you could reply with the wheel bolt pattern (see FAQ article) and the reference numbers from the inner and outer wheel bearings, I'd be happy to make some recommendations for you.
