Use of Stabilizing Strap on Class I Hitches Installed on 2013 Audi A4 Sedan
Question:
hello. your site has 3 different hitches for my car listed below. all three hitches look identical but the first one one calls for the use of stabilizer straps if used with a bike rack, while the other two do not mention anything about straps. I was wondering why the discrepancy among the hitches if they are all identical in build/mounting to the car. should i use straps regardless of the hitch i buy? if you could recommend which one of the 3 would be the best for my car 2013 audi a4 that would be appreciated. thanks C11186 60219 24830

The three light-duty Class I hitches offered for your 2013 Audi A4 Sedan are shown on the linked page.
Curt hitches are unique in that some of their hitch models like # C11186 do require a stabilizing strap # 18050 whenever used with a non-wheeled load, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. Some other brands do not have this warranty requirement.
This does not indicate any deficiency in the Curt hitch. All three products are virtually identical and all install at the exact same points on the car's frame. Curt simply chooses to be more cautious and so requires the strap.
If you want to avoid need for the strap I suggest Draw-Tite hitch # 24830. I linked for you a helpful article with tips for an easier hitch install.
In this hitch you can use a Class I rated accessory bike or cargo carriers. Links to Class I products in both categories are included for you along with an article to guide your selection.
