Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2005 Toyota Highlander V6

Question:

I am under the impression my Highlander already has a cooler built into the factory radiator, is this correct? No tow package Not planning to do any towing, maybe some mountain towing. Also, the fluid needs a minimum temp as well, any danger of overcooling in normal conditions?

Most modern vehicles do now have a transmission cooler incorporated into the primary cooling system which allows engine coolant to also lower the temp of transmission fluid. Heavy-duty vehicles and vehicles that are tow-rated may also have a secondary external supplemental cooler installed. It is not really possible to over-cool transmission fluid so any temperature reduction you can achieve will tend to add to the transmission's working lifespan.

If your 2005 Highlander has the 3.3L V6 engine I recommend the Derale # D13503. This kit includes everything needed for installation. The cooler you referenced, Derale # D13502, is also a good choice. The goal is to install the largest size cooler you can fit into the available space in order to get maximum cooling efficiency.
