SportRack Roof Rack and Kayak Carriers for a 2008 Toyota Prius

Question:

Hello, will this fit a 2008 prius and also will this be fine transporting two kayaks? I would secure the kayaks forward and after on the prius as well as to the cross bars....just worried about weight as each kayak weights 65# each...the main reason I want the cross bars is so the weight stays off the roof of the prius.... Thanks!!

The SportRack semi-custom roof rack # SR1002 will fit a 2008 Toyota Prius 5-door model (4-door and rear hatch which in 2008 I believe they all were).

To carry 2 kayaks on their sides and tie them off to one carrier I recommend carrier # MPG115MD. If you want each kayak to have its own carrier I recommend using 2 J-style carriers # SR5511. There isn't really enough space on the roof to carry the kayaks hull down and side by side.

Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Toyota for the roof weight carrying capacity prior to loading. The roof rack is rated for 130 pounds and the carriers can handle the weight of the kayaks too. If the vehicle roof itself is rated lower you must go by the lower rating.
