With a Class I trailer hitch on your 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse, you should only use the ball mount that is recommended for use with the trailer hitch. Another problem is that the ball mount that you have referenced is a Class II accessory. Class II items are designed so that they will not fit in a Class I trailer hitch.
You could use Sportframe Drawbar, # 3592, which will give you a 2-1/8 inch rise or # C45016, which will give you a 2-5/8 inch rise.
