Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Trailer with 1,000 lbs Tongue Weight
Question:
How often do the Sway pro spring bars have to be replaced? I am towing a trailer with the tongue weight at less than 1000 pounds and a gross weight of 9600 pounds. If I were to buy a Sway Pro system rated at 1500 pounds, would I be at a safe place or would it be to large for my rating? Buying at a larger rate would it be alright?

Spring bars for weight distribution systems are not known for wearing out. As long as the system doesn't get damaged in any way you can use the same spring bars for as long as they are properly rated for your trailer setup.
If you are right at 1,000 lbs the 1,500 lb Blue Ox system part # BXW1500 would be too high rated in my opinion. You would end up with a setup that would provide you with a harsher ride quality.
Now when picking out a weight distribution system you also have to consider the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle as tongue weight. So with that in mind the # BXW1500 may be the right choice.
Otherwise you would have to go with a different brand since right at 1,000 lbs tongue weight is a void in the coverage of the different Blue Ox systems.
The Reese part # RP66542 would then be a great option as it has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
