Trailer Brake Controller Recommendation for 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara
Question:
Greetings, I have a 2009 jeep Sahara unlimited that came with the OEM tow package. Im looking for a brake controller, I noticed on all your units it stated, high lighted in yellow, without factory connector. Do you not have one that is adaptable to a system that came with the 7 oval plug OEM? Thanks

Any of the trailer electric brake controllers that we offer will work with your 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Sahara, with 7-Way trailer connector. I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885.
The Prodigy P2 # 90885 features an LED digital display, 3 boost levels, battery protection, as well as contiguous diagnostics. The controller has automatic-leveling ability so you can position the controller at any angle up or down in the vertical plane. I have attached a review video of this controller for you.
The P2 will come with a universal wiring pigtail for you to install the controller in your Wrangler Unlimited. The blue wire from the controller pigtail will need to be connected to the blue wire at the 7-Way, the black wire will be ran through a circuit breaker and then to the vehicle battery, the white wire will be grounded, and the red wire will need to tap into the stoplight circuit that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. I have attached a help article on installing a brake controller from scratch for you.
To hardwire install the brake controller, I recommend the Wiring Kit for Electric Trailer Brake Controller # 5506. This kit will provide you with wiring and hardware needed to install the Prodigy P2 controller.
I have also attached an installation video of this controller on a 2008 Wrangler Unlimited for you to have an idea of the installation process.
