Hitch or Roof Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2016 Subaru Forester
Question:
I am undecided on a roof mount or a trailer mount. I worry about the rear view camera and extra space when parking if I go with a trailer mount. Alternatively, I worry about getting my mountain bike up on the roof I am five nine and in decent shape. In either case I want a sturdy rack that attaches to my front wheel only. Recommendations ?

The best all-around solution for carrying bikes is a hitch mounted option. They provide the sturdiest connection, are the easiest to access, protect the bikes the best, and don't hurt fuel mileage or create wind noise. Your back up camera would be slightly obstructed with one installed, but it would be a small price to pay in my opinion.
The Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH69TX is one of the nicest racks around that would be a great option for you. This rack will only touch the tires of your bike which would protect the finish of the bike and not interfere with any cables. It comes with everything you need to use it with 2 bikes or 4. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.
You will need a hitch too. For that you would want the Draw-Tite part # 75876 which will give you a 2 inch hitch opening that would offer greater flexibility for future hitch accessories or if you ever wanted to do some light towing. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
