Trailer Hitch to Tow a 4,000 Pound Trailer with a 2016 Ram 1500
Question:
I will be pulling a 6x12 single axle enclosed trailer. Best estimate that I would be hauling would be about 4000lbs total weight trailer and Cargo. Would the Curt 13333 hitch be enough?

Expert Reply:
Curt trailer hitch # 13333 for the 2016 Ram 1500 is rated for 600 pounds tongue weight and 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight so it is rated for more than enough for the 4,000 pound trailer. I have included a link to a video showing and example installation of this hitch for you.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
And if your truck did not come with a trailer connector at the back then to add a 4-Way connector I recommend # C59496. I have linked the installation details for this harness for you.
