Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendations for a 2014 Ford Explorer without Factory Tow Package
Question:
Hello, I currently own a 2014 Ford Explorer Base Model. I do not have the factory tow package and thus cannot use the T-connector wiring harness. I had previously watched an install video on part # C59496 I believe. I can not seem to locate the install video for my 2014 Ford Explorer anymore. Is that a link you can still provide me? I want to buy your part but need to have a step by step guide for install. Thank you

On the 2014 Ford Explorer models that did not come with the factory tow package you can still install a wiring harness that just plugs in, # 118540, if the connectors are present on the vehicle. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation of this harness for you.
If you do not have those connectors to plug in a harness then you would need a hardwire harness. To avoid having to cut and splice wires I recommend # 119250KIT. This harness clamps around the vehicle tail light wires instead of splicing into them making installation much easier.
