Availability of 12 inch Hitch Extender for 2015 Ram 3500 for Towing 5,200 lb Horse Trailer
Question:
We have a 2015 Ram 3500 with a Cummings 6.7 liter. And carry an 11foot camper. Can I tow a 5200 pound horse trailer with an extension?

Hitch extenders typically cut the capacity of the hitch they are used on in half. However, if you have a 2-1/2 inch hitch installed the part # HR26 would be perfect as it is right at 12 inches. The good news is that with a 2-1/2 inch hitch the extenders only cut the capacity by 25 percent instead.
If you have a 2 inch hitch on your truck you instead would want the part # C45795 which is 14 inches long.
Your truck should have a very high-capacity hitch installed on it and reducing it by 25 or 50 percent shouldn't be a problem since your trailer only weighs 5,200 lbs, but you still will want to keep that in mind. You will also need to keep in mind the added weight your horses will add when they are loaded.
