Brake Controller Wiring Needed to Move Hayes Genesis Brake Controller From 2002 to 2004 Silverado

I currently use this product on a 2002 Silverado 1500HD 4wd ext cab pickup. Can this product be installed on a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4wd ext cab pickup?

Trailer Brake Controllers aren't vehicle specific, so they can be used on just about any vehicle. The brake controller wiring adapters are vehicle specific. The 2002 and the 2004 Chevy Silverado use a different wiring adapter, so the adapter you currently have wouldn't work in the 2004 Silverado.

In order to install your # HA81726 Hayes Blackbird brake controller into your 2004 Silverado, you'll need the correct brake controller wiring adapter which is part # HA81780-HBC.

I've linked you to a video showing the installation procedure. The video shows a brake controller and wiring adapter from a different manufacturer, but the procedure would be the same with your Hayes brake controller.
