Yes, brake controllers are pretty universal in terms of the vehicles they fit so you could easily install a brake controller from a 2001 Chevy Silverado into a 2015 Chevy Silverado.
The correct install harness for the 2015 will be the part # 3016. This harness is designed for Tekonsha brake controllers, but if you have a different brand you could cut off the black connector and hardwire it to the controller to make it work.
