Can Tire Chains be Used on a 2016 BMW X3 3.5 and Do they Go On the Front or Rear Tires

I have a 2016 BMW X-3 3.5, do I need chains for all 4 tires or just 2? If just 2 chains, do I mount them on the front or back tires?

I checked the 2016 BMW X3 owner's manual and have the following information on the use of tire chains.

Use tire chains on the rear wheels on the following tire sizes only:

205/65-17
225/60-17
245/50-18
245/45-19

Do NOT use tire chains on tire size 245/55-17 (or a different size) and chains on the front are not recommended for any size.

If you can tell me which size tires you have I can make some recommendations. I have included a link to the tire chain main page for your vehicle.
