Best Weight Distribution and Sway Control For a 6,500 lb.Travel Trailer on 2006 Ford F150 Super Crew

Question:

I Have a 2001 Ford F-150 4x4 SuperCrew 5.4L V-8 Towing capacity 7700 lb The Particular Bumper tow trailer I have picked out is a 2015 Keystone / Springdale Model 202QBWE Hitch Weight 550 lbs, Dry weight 4,290 lbs Gross weight 6,500 lbs. So.. My question is what would you recommend as the best Weight Distribution and Sway Control for this combination. Are various brands equal? or some much better?

My favorite weight distribution system to recommend is the Reese Strait Line like the # RP66074 that you referenced. They fit and install well and offer the only sway control on the market designed to fight sway before it starts so it would be your best option.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

I attached an install video and a couple help articles on WD systems for you to check out as well.

Your tongue weight will end up being most likely 650 to 975 lbs when you are loaded based on your 6,500 weight that you listed so the part # RP66074 would fit and work well if you are on the higher end of that scale. The next step down would be the part # RP66083 which has tongue weight range of 400 to 800-lbs.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
