Question:

I understand i am suppose to disconnect wiring harness from my vehicle to my boat trailer before launching to prevent any short in the electrical system. How can I disconnect the electrical but still have power for the reverse solenoid to function in reverse. I have not read any articles relating to this problem. Thanks

What you will want to do is keep the wiring harness connected until you have backed the boat trailer on the boat ramp. Then, with the boat trailer on the boat ramp and it sloping down towards the water you can unhook your wiring harness. That way the weight of the boat is pulling down the hill and will keep the brakes from locking up since it is going downhill.

Also, you will not want to connect the wiring harness to the boat trailer as soon as it is pulled out of the water. Let the trailer sit so the lights drain and electrical connections dry out before the wiring harness is hooked up. This will keep the electrical system from shorting out.
