Output Short Error After New Brakes and Wire Install Troubleshooting
Question:
I bought a used enclosed trailer the electric brakes where completely done for. I purchased both the left and right 10inch Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly along with brand new wire for the install. After the install I am getting a Output Short error on my Tekonsha Prodigy P3 controller. All wire connection points are soldered so dont think I would have a lose connection. I also have completely replaced the 7 Pin wire harness. The only items which are not new is the brake drums. Could worn out brake drums cause this issue? Also, I have not completed the Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake initial setup. I had forgot about it until I started doing research. Could that be a possible cause? Just trying to narrow down my troubleshooting focus.

The problem you are experiencing is wiring related and not related to the drums that are on the trailer. Since you installed a new 7-way the problem is most likely not corrosion related, but you can still check the connector on your tow vehicle to see if there is corrosion there and clean as necessary.
Most likely the problem is on the brake output circuit somewhere between the connection you made to install the new 7-way and the brake assemblies. It's not an easy solution, but you are going to have to check the condition of the wiring from the connector back to the brake assemblies looking for any cut or exposed wire and fix as necessary.
I attached a help article on troubleshooting brake controller installs for you to check out as well.
