Electric Winch Recommendation for Pulling 10,000 Pound Water Trailer
Question:
Im looking for a winch that is capable of towing an agricultural trailer. Fully loaded the trailer should be around 10,000 lb. Field conditions unknown, but it would probably be safe to assume obstacles such as dirt clumps and ruts. Tire size unknown. All I have to go by is a sketch of the trailer and the loaded weight.

I can help you pick out a winch that will allow you to pull your water trailer around the field.
I recommend the # SW1517200 Superwinch.Tiger Shark. This winch can pull up to 17,500lbs of static load.
When picking out a winch for rough or muddy terrain we typically recommend a winch with the line pull capacity at least 50 percent greater than the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight).
The equation is such: GVW X 1.5 = minimum line pull capacity of the winch
For you that would be 10,000 x 1.5 = 15,000lbs
Since you will be on unknown terrain the 17,500lbs is a good choice for you, if you find yourself in a situation you can always double your line pull by using a snatch block like # CU881082.
I have linked a video on the Tiger Shark as well as a Help Article on electric winches for your convenience.
