Why does 2006 Chevrolet 4x4 Diesel Have Restrictions On Tire Chains
Question:
I have an 06 chevy 2500hd 4x4 diesel with 265 75r 16s. Noone can tell me why heavy duty chains are not good because of clearance issues. Unless the chains are 3inch from the tire, I dont get it. Its not lifted, but there is plenty of room. Please advise....thx

Many times the restrictions for tire chains is listed because of the clearance between the inside of the tire and the vehicle wheel well. It does not always consider just the clearance from the top or front or rear of the tire to the vehicle.
There can also be restrictions because of any lines that are running to the wheel. Your dealership would be a good place to start to see if you can get an explanation on the type tire chains you can use.
