Will Metal Valve Stems Change Wheel Capacity On Fifth Wheel Trailer

Hello. I own a 2005 Alumascape 5th wheel trailer. From the factory this trailer came with LT235/85R16 tires. The GCVR of this rig is 14,400 lbs. I am looking to purchase higher weight capacity tires but I am concerned about my wheels. They are G rated for 3042 lbs @ 80 PSI. Why are some G rated wheels rated for a larger load carrying capacity? I have read online that the weak link in RV wheels is the rubber valve stems. By installing two piece metal HD valve stems would I be able to use F rated @110 PSI? There is so much confusing information out there regarding RV tires. I would like to think that that your company, e-Trailer, A company that specializes in only trailers, would only sell quality tires. I will be making a purchase from you this spring. If your wheels are rated for 3042-lbs, changing the valve stems will not change the capacity of the wheels, although the valve stem construction may be the only thing you can find different. Wheels have a capacity rating that is different from the tires mounted on them. You will always need to go by the lowest rated component, whether it happens to be the wheel or the tire.

You may find a metal valve stem that will work on your wheels like part # AM20906, but you do need to be aware that some wheels have a contoured surface the valve stem sits on and a metal stem may not seat entirely flush.

The wheel/tire combo you mentioned, part # TTWA16RGWSHD has a weight capacity of 4,450-lbs for the wheel and 4,400-lbs for the tire. This combo does have an 8 on 6-1/2 wheel bolt pattern, and the wheel has a pilot hole diameter that measures 4.88-inches.
