Is Ball on Curt # C45571 Euro-Style Ball Removable
Question:
Hi, Should I Buy Curt Class II Euro Style Drawbar with 1-7 / 8 Ball - 2-5 / 8inch Rise. Can I change ball latter? Ball has a thread? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Curt Euro-Style Class II ball mount you referenced, part # C45571 features a permanently attached 1-7/8 inch trailer ball which is not removable.
If you were wanting a ball mount with a similar rise where you could interchange the trailer ball, I'd recommend going with a standard type ball mount, like part # C45017. If you anticipate needing to change between 1-7/8 and 2 inch trailer balls frequently, I'd recommend using a interchangeable ball set-up like what Convert-A-Ball offers. The trailer ball shank is permanently installed on the ball mount, but the actual ball is easily removed without needing tools. This means the shank will only need to be installed and torqued one time.
Convert-A-Ball offers two sets, both include a 1-7/8 and a 2 inch ball. # 800B is nickel plated, while # 802B is stainless steel. For corrosion resistance and longevity, I'd recommend using the # 802B stainless set.
