Where to Splice Into the Brake Signal on a 2010 Landcruiser 200 Series Using a Tekonsha Voyager

Question:

Have a new 200 series landcruiser GXL and I was wondering if there are any particulars tricks with wiring the Tekonsha. Particulkarly where the brake signal pick up is obtained. From the pedal switch or brake light signal wire at the rear of the vehicle, or elsewhere?

The best place to tie into the stoplight circuit on your LandCruiser is behind the brake pedal switch, under the vehicle dash. This is also the safest location because the wire is protected under the dash and not exposed so there is no chance of the wire being damaged and trailer brakes not engaging when needed.

To find the stoplight circuit, use a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if needed, and probe the wires coming from the stoplight switch connector under the dash until you find the wire that has power only when the brake pedal is activated. This wire must not have any power to it when the brake pedal is not activated.

We have instructions (see link) posted online for the Voyager, item # 39510. You will also need a Brake Controller 7- & 4-Way Installation Kit, item # ETBC7, to complete your installation. I have included a link to our brake controller installation from scratch help page and a video of a brake controller installation for you to review.
