Assembling your braking system will be like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, you need to be certain that all the pieces will fit together. As a first step, you'll need to make sure your axle has a brake mounting flange. Next, you'll need to choose a hub/drum that uses inner and outer wheel bearings that are compatible with the spindles on your axle. Once we know which hub/drum you're using, you can then choose the correct electric brake assembly.
The # 8-173-16UC3 hubs we currently offer that are compatible with a 7 inch brake assembly use a L44649 inner and outer wheel bearing, and have a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. The # 23-47 and # 23-48 electric brake assemblies would work well with the hub/drums.
The L44649 bearing has an inside diameter of 1.063 inches, so the diameter of your spindle where the inner and outer bearings ride should be roughly the same diameter.
If you click the provided link, you can see an FAQ article that explains the whole process of adding brakes to a trailer. When choosing a brake controller, I strongly recommend choosing a proportional model, versus the older time-delayed brake controller. A proportional controller can immediately determine how quickly the tow vehicle is braking, and will send the proper amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so the trailer and tow vehicle stop at the same rate. This provides the safest and most predictable braking. The Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160 would be an excellent brake controller.
