Can 2 Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Cameras be Installed on a 2003 Ford Focus

Question:

Im thinking of buying 2 of the HM50002 for my 03 ford focus, one for the rear just for backing up dark tinted windows so I can see, and one for the front, when pulling onto my tow dolly. My question is can I get by using just one monitor using a switch, or, using both monitors using a switch for turning the front on and off, and how would I wire the front switch.

There is no easy way to wire two cameras to one monitor in the Hopkins Smart Hitch backup camera # HM50002. To avoid voiding the warranty I would not put the monitor power wires on a switch either; rather you could just switch which one is plugged in at the time.

For the front one I recommend wiring it to the running light circuit on the vehicle. Then when you turn on the vehicle lights the camera will turn on. You could potentially use a quick spice connector # SWC501746-1 to splice the camera wire into a head light wire.

Another option is to use the Swift Hitch 2 camera system, # SH03D, which requires just one monitor. I have included a link to a video review of this camera system for you.
