The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera System, part # HM50002, can be hardwired into the reverse light circuit for your vehicle with a 4-way connector.

You can cut the red and black wires going to the connector included with the HM50002. The black wire is the ground and should be attached to either an existing ground stud or to a clean bare metal surface.

The red wire should be spliced into the reverse light wire. You can use a circuit tester like part # PT2993 to locate the reverse light wire. The easiest place to locate the reverse wiring is usually behind the tail light assembly. You can have someone sit in the driver seat, apply the emergency brake, and press on the brake pedal. You will be able to find the wire that shows power when the brake pedal is pressed.

Next, have the helper place the vehicle in reverse while you test the wires. You would attach the red wire to the wire that only shows current when vehicle is in reverse. Since it typically has a clear bulb for the reverse light, you may be able to see which wire is leading to the backup light.

I have attached a link to an installation video for this system. The vehicle may not be the same but the process used to install this system would be similar.
