Are Pre-Mounted Trailer Tire/Wheel Combination Products Dynamically Balanced Like Automobile Tires

Question:

Are the tire and rim balanced?

The tire/wheel combination products that we offer come from the manufacturer already pre-mounted. The tire's low spot is matched to the rim's high spot when they are mounted together. This is not the same as an actual dynamic tire balancing as you would have done when you buy new tires for your automobile but it does provide enough balance for a trailer tire.

Certainly you could have trailer tires dynamically balanced by a shop that has the required equipment but it is not absolutely necessary for a trailer tire.

I linked for you our main page for trailer tires, wheels and tire/wheel combinations. Many of the most popular wheel and tire sizes are combined and offered pre-mounted. You can find your size by clicking on the type of item you want - tire only, wheel only or the two combined - and then by selecting your wheel diameter, either radial or bias ply tire type and your wheel bolt pattern. You'll then see items that meet your required characteristics.

Let's say for example that you want a 15-inch ST225/75R15 radial tire on a wheel with a 6-on-5-1/2 bolt pattern with the highest possible weight rating. In such a case you could use the Kenda Load Range E item # AM32680 which is rated for 2830-lbs at 80-psi pressure.

Two helpful articles on tires and wheels are linked for you. Please note that no matter what its type, size or rating, a trailer tire should always be inflated to the maximum psi pressure rating that is noted on the tire sidewall. Never over- or under-inflate a trailer tire and always check their pressure when the tires are cold.
