Trailer Hitch and Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2012 Hyundai Veloster
Question:
I want to buy a trailer Hitch for my 2012 hyundai Veloster. The Curt hitch part # C11254 looks good but I need to use a 2 inch receiver as I have previous 2 inch attachments. Cargo Deck and fold up hinge part all for 2. Is there an adapter I can get or can you provide the hitch for my car with a 2inch receiver.?

Helpful Expert Reply:
For your 2012 Hyundai Veloster there is only a Class I hitch available, part # C11254. 2 inch hitches are generally reserved for larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks.
Generally we do not recommend the use of 2 inch adapters on 1-1/4 inch hitches like this one since they cut the already pretty low capacities for the hitch in half. This hitch has a 100 lb tongue weight capacity so when used for a cargo carrier it would only have a 50 lb capacity. And that includes the weight of the carrier.
Your best option would be a compatible cargo carrier like the part # C18145. Which I attached a review video for.
Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a cargo carrier. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well.
