7-Way Trailer Connector Vehicle Tester Does Not Light Up with Primus IQ Brake Controller
Question:
I have a Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller installed on a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT. When pressing the brake the BC light does not light up. When using the manual switch it doesnt light up either. Is this normal and is there another way to check it?

The LED lights on the 7-Way trailer connector vehicle tester # C73NR might not draw enough power for the brake controller to detect it. There is another way to test for voltage on the 7-Way. You can use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993.
Have someone apply the manual override lever on the brake controller while using the tester on the pin in the 5 o'clock position on the 7-Way. When performing this test the circuit tester should indicate voltage getting to the 7-Way. If not then there could be a wiring issue or problem with the controller.
If you suspect that the brake controller is the problem I have included some links on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers for you.
