Question:

I want to flat tow my 1984 Jeep CJ-7 Which wiring converter / diode thing do I need to purchase? I was looking at the Blue Ox that had all diodes in one block.

If you are not planning on towing your Jeep really often I recommend using magnetic lighting like the RoadMaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights part # RM-2120.

Using the magnetic lights may be a better option because you would not have to work with the older wiring on your CJ-7. I called my contact at Blue Ox and they told me that you can use the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit, part # BX8811, although we do not have any information about this kit and installation on a your Jeep.

When you flat-tow your Jeep you will need 5 items. You will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the Jeep, and most states now require supplemental brakes.

The base plates we offer are part # BX88230. These is a universal base plate kit that has to be mounted to a flat surface. You would want to make sure you have plenty of support if you decide on this base plate kit.

For a tow bar I recommend part # BX7322. For safety cables I recommend part # RM-643.

The supplemental brake system I recommend is the Blue Ox Patriot, part # BLU37TR.

I have attached links to some helpful articles about flat-towing you can check out.
