Expert Reply:
The most popular trailer hitch for your 2016 Ford C-Max is Curt hitch # C12092. This is a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver.
If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class II trailer hitch. Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements.
If you plan on doing some light towing (consult owner's manual first) then for a ball mount you can use # C45521. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring you can use # 119250KIT
